How one engineering firm cut space needs in half while increasing efficiency office
Polysius Corporation, a German-owned ThyssenKrupp A.G. company, was recently able to substantially reduce lease costs by consolidating its US headquarters on one floor from two in an upscale Atlanta building. The move gave facility planners the opportunity to maximize office efficiency, while also improving workflow and creating a more professional appearance. With an open design concept, meaning few walls, and as many as 7,000 binders to store, Polysius needed a creative storage solution.
Three Spacesaver High-Density Mobile Storage Systems proved the best solution, condensing infrequently accessed engineering reference materials, while freeing up workspace. More than 100 stationary shelving ranges, located around the perimeter and throughout the office, store more frequently used project reference materials and engineering data near point of use. Some of these double-sided, case-type ranges are strategically positioned to provide natural barriers between office groupings and the different divisions within the organization. With project materials now stored close to where they are utilized and everyone, in general, better organized, efficiency has also improved. |
