How Cape Radiology Group prepared for change with Herman Miller Modular Casework.
When Cape Radiology Group, an independent diagnostic center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri planned for their new 20,000 sq. ft. building, they anticipated a lot of turnover in their new space. Project architect, Steve Grisham of Sims/Grisham/Blair Architects in Little Rock Arkansas, recognized his client's need for efficient flexibility, and recommended Costruc® Modular Moveable Casework by Herman Miller for Healthcare instead of conventional built-in casework.
“We simply made the case that modularity would end up being more economical given how much their work space would probably change over the years,” Grisham says.
Herman Miller's Modular Systems of products are compatible with each other and can be reused or exchanged throughout the healthcare facility in both the clinical and administrative areas. Grisham worked closely with Kurt Eggerding (Herman Miller Healthcare Systems Specialist) of Peterson Group in Fenton Missouri to help develop and design the Herman Miller applications, provide the products, and manage installations. In addition to the Co/Struc® casework, Peterson Group installed a Herman Miller Ethospace® reception station, Action Office® in the administrative areas, and Passage® desks divided by acoustical Action Office panels in the radiology reading room.

Sure enough, changes happened almost immediately. Within a year of opening its doors, Cape Radiology called upon Peterson Group again to add a mammography room, squeeze in a billing department, and improve storage – all by simply moving around the Co/Struc casework already purchased.
The Herman Miller modular concept proved itself so convincingly that Cape Radiology has since installed it in two satellite facilities in Rolla and Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
